Kmart 4-Pack Felt Drawer Desk Organiser (1L, 1M, 2Sm)

This pack is made of sturdy felt material (
Ain't sure whether the material is real felt or acrylic look-like felt). I've spread the drawers inside one of my wardrobe drawers and has helped me to have everything tidy and at hand. I've stored small items in them: glasses cases, hand fans, watches, and other small items that I never know where to put. Very economic and very good looking.

Measurements =
  • Large drawer: 4cm (H) x 37.5cm (W) x 28cm (D)
  • Medium drawer: 3.6cm (H) x 26cm (W) x 18cm (D)
  • Small drawer: 3.6cm (H) x 18cm (W) x 13.5cm (D)

ANKO Egg Cooker (12 x14 x 23cm)

I saw this at an office kitchenette and I thought I needed one for me as I boil eggs all the time. This cooker is not only cheap, but also quicker at boiling six eggs than the traditional pot I normally used. It halves the cooking time and the eggs come out perfectly cooked no matter the setting I choose (soft, medium or hard).

The cooker comes with a mini measurement cup with clear water level indicators, which vary depending on the number of eggs you're cooking and how you want them cooked. Follow it to the letter, and you'll get eggs perfectly.

Before placing the eggs on the holding tray, you need to puncture the flatter part of the egg using the pricker at the bottom of the measurement cup. Press it a bit against the egg till "clicks", but not too hard or you'll break the egg. The puncture prevents eggs from exploding or bursting.

The machine will switch off automatically, but you need to turn the beep manually. You can use the warm setting if you are going to eat the eggs soon and don't want them to cold down.

Overall, it's a great product at a great price.

DOWNSIDES

> The finishing beep sounds like a fire alarm and you have to turn it manually or it will continue with its annoying beep.
> I understand that this is a cheap cooker, so I didn't expect a professional quality cooker. However, I found that the inner stainless-steel heating tray looks a bit plasticky, and it can get iron mould (rust-like).

MIND =
> 12-month guarantee.
Sometimes,  the eggs burst out, especially if they aren't fresh, in the same way that you would get if cooking them in a pot.

CAUTION =
> Don't let children use this cooker without supervision.
> Use the measurement cup with caution as the needle at the base needs to be covered by its protecting cap or you might hurt yourself.
> Wait a couple of minutes to get the eggs out or use a protective element to do so.

Bamboo and Plastic Vertical 3 Drawers (3.6H x 17.1W x 24.1D cm)

I have a couple of these units in my office's shelves sitting beside my horizontal desktop drawer unit made of the same good-looking quality bamboo and white sturdy plastic. This unit looks small, but it holds lots of stuff. I have my portable hard drivers stored in one of the drawers, as well as punches, pens, markers, a small portable radio and  other random art supplies and stationery items. It can easily be used as bathroom storage unit for makeup and cosmetics as well. The unit weights about 1.5 Kg, so it can handle weight very well. The only thing that I dislike is that the heights of this and the larger unit are slightly different; the small one is about 0.5cms shorter, something that personally I notice. It would have been great if  they had had identical in height.

OXX Essentials Heat-Up Wheat Bag Monster (26H x 19W cms)

This monster heat pad is very cute. I love the plushy  super soft polyester sleeve design. The heating pad contains 100% Australian wheat, even though, to touch, feels more like some sort of mini balls. I had other wheat pads in the past and they emit a slight wheat odor, but this one is odourless.  I heat it up in the microwave 30 seconds and then, supervised, if needed, I go up to 10, 20, or 30 seconds more. My microwave isn't that powerful, so I haven't any problem. The instructions also recommend no to reheat till the pad is totally cold, but I rarely do so; so far so good. The cover has a hanging loop, but why would you want to hand this pad instead of put it close to your body?

MIND

>  Maximum heating time: 1-700W: 30 seconds; 701-1200W: 20 seconds.

Product complies with AS/NZS 5116-2016.

> Registered with Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (ARTG No: 226768).

> Exercise caution when using it with children.

> Do not ingest. Do not use when wet. Do not reheat until completely cold. Do not put into storage until cold. Follow usage instructions carefully.

Kmart Glazed Teal Pot with stopper (20H x 24D cm)

This is a huge terracotta pot glazed in a gorgeous teal turquoise colour. It is heavy (4 kilos) and really large. It has a drainage hole and comes with a plastic stopper just in case you want to use it just with an artificial plant. I have it with a decorative plant in my living room and it looks fab. The price is incredible for such a gorgeous good quality large ceramic pot.

Kmart Blind Dusters 3pc Set

I have Venetian blinds in my place, so I thought this duster would be great to clean my blinds racks easily. The duster is made of cheap plastic and the sleeve is a plushy microfibre fabric, which is easily washable; it comes with two complimentary sleeves. After using it, I find that the design would have been ideal if it had just one opening (a la tongs) not two. This isn't practical as you have to manually adjust the tons between the racks all the time. Also, it doesn't come with any extension handle, so you can only use it on the lower rack not the whole blinds. Cheap for sure, but also a waste of money and not much design thought behind.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Bamboo and Plastic Desk Top Drawers

This is one of those Kmart items that I consider a staple at home. I have many of them stacked on each other in my art studio/home office. They're not only good looking, durable, roomy and easy to clean, but also fit well with the Ikea Skandi look that I love for my studio. I stuck them by using a bit of blue tack on the base. I have put some of them inside my shellves, and they look great, keeping all my stuff tidy and organised.

KMART Anko Wet & Dry Hand Vacuum

I bought this after a friend's recommendation. I bought it  and, since then, has become a must in my home office, and I use it all the time.

Capacity if about 700 ml, so I use it in small spaces. Mostly around and underneath my desk and working area. I also use it to clean skirt-boards, tiny corners in my bathroom and bedroom. Basically, I use it for anything that I want to clean without having to take out my normal vacuum, which is always a hassle. The amount of water it takes is 120 mls, but I have never used over wet surfaces or to suck liquids. However, my friend uses it with her cat, who is sometimes incontinent, and she says it does the job.

Emptying and cleaning this vacuum is easy, but you'll have to get used to the way the upper body rotates on the lower one.

This vacuum takes a while to charge fully the first time. The instructions say six hours, but I would say it's less than that. It definitely takes less time if the power light is on red and charge it to be green. I have never used this vacuum for more than 10 minutes, so I cannot say how long the battery lasts straight on from fully charged. However, I think this was never designed to replace a normal vacuum or to vacuum the whole house.

The main downsides of this mini vacuum are the noise level, which could definitely be improved, and the retractable tongue, which sometimes looses itself out.

Listen, this might not be the best hand vacuum out there, but it is still great for the price and sucks tons of stuff, from tiny pieces of paper, hair, dust, food crumbs and chunky dirt.

KMART Reusable Heavy-Duty Tablecover (274x137cms)

In the past I've bought similar plastic (polyethylene) tablecloths that lasted me only a few days before broke and torn, and they turned to to be a waste of plastic and money. However, I've had this one on my desk table for months, and is still in decent state despite several spills and using it daily to paint. It has a sturdy but light plastic matte top side and a soft flannel lining that acts a barrier. So it turns out that the 'reusable and heavy duty" adjectives are more than a promise. The cover is really large so it can adjusted to most tables out there without a problem. I especially like the black matte version. Amazing for just three bucks.

KMART 3 Drawer Chest (Grey)

This chest of drawers is not only cheap, but also sturdy, spacious and good looking. It's also very easy to assemble.

I have two of these in my home office and they perfectly fit with my office's Skandi style. The frame is made of metal, the top is bamboo and the collapsible drawers are fabric-like.

I had hesitations to buy this item due to the fact that the drawers are soft and I thought they would not be spacious or strong enough. However, they are! I have tons of stuff in them. The maker advises a maximum of 3 Kilos per drawer but I have two of them holding more than that. However, I put the heavier on the bottom shelf as this acts as grounding for the the whole unit and prevents the chest toppling over.

The top shelf can hold up to 20 Kilos, so I have a heavy-ish letter tray organiser on one of my units. Kmart doesn't recommend putting a TV on this chest, firstly because this unit was not made to place a TV, and secondly because the unit can be easily moved if not fully loaded.

The maker recommends having this chest wall secured, but I cannot do that in the rental I live in. Yet, the chest is very stable and, despite using it all the time, having it full of stuff, opening and closing the drawers all the time, has never toppled. Yet, I can move it easily. If you have children, secure it to the wall  with the including fittings as, when empty, the whole unit weighs less than 5 kilos and can be easily moved or fall.

Although I use this chest for office purposes, due to its good looks and large capacity, can be used in different rooms as I could easily fill it with linen, towels, shoes, toys, table linen, travelling light gear, and so on.

My main disappointment with this unit is that the drawer handle inner side tends to deform and bend outward, making it look cheap (well, it shows it's cheap when this happens). There are no replacements for these collapsible drawers, so, if one breaks, you will have to buy a new unit, which is a bit ridiculous.

I've had this chest for several years and it's still a star seller at Kmart. Despite the heavy use I give it, it is in great condition and still looking good.

MEASUREMENTS: 72cm (H) x 45cm (W) x 30cm (D)

Kmart Australia (Online Store)

I've I've bought a lot of items from Kmart throughout the years, both from my nearest store and online, and I'm very pleased with the variety of products on offer, the pricing and the service provided. They are perfect for people with low means, like young couples, students, retirees and anyone wanting to buy some trendy stuff without blowing off their budget.

The variety of product is enormous. They sell trendy design items and styles at much cheaper prices than other cheap retailers.

Some of the Kmart brand appliances are really cheap and good quality. Yes, they are basic, but if you don't want anything too fancy or too posh, or the latest model in the market, they are terrific.

They have a fantastic returns policy.

The staff in the shops tend to be very young but really lovely and expedient.

You can buy online and have it delivered at home. If necessary, they gather the items from different stores to fulfill your order. Delivery takes little time to reach metropolitan areas.

Their online reviews are legit. You cannot review a product if you haven't bought it online and receive a link from Kmart to review it.

DOWNSIDES
> Hit and miss quality. Sometimes you get really good quality products at bargain prices, but others you don't. Some products start to fall to pieces rapidly, or the assembly instructions are messed up, or the screws are all mixed up, or the quality isn't good despite how pretty the item looks in the photo. So, there is no consistency in the quality of their products, and you can't see that until you start using them.

> Poor sales. Their Black Friday and Boxing Day offers and sales are sub par when compared with all other cheap retailers.

> Online deliveries are charged. Shopping online is easy, but, unlike many other retailers (Target Australia included) they do charge for the delivery, regardless of how much you spend in one transaction.

> Online reviews. They are diminutive in length. They discard legit reviews that are detailed, which is what I personally would like to read. That was the case with mine, which never saw the light. Mind you, a reviewer saying," I love it", it is not a review, that's an enthusiastic statement. A very different thing is a reviewer saying, "It looks great, but this product has this and this issue" and commenting on it in one long paragraph."  It might be just the design of the reviews area, which is diminutive itself. I don't know, but most of them aren't helpful.
