Revolve Clothing Online Shop (USA)

I was hesitant to order with Revolve Clothing due some negative reviews -badly intentioned I believe- I found on the net, but I liked the wallet I wanted to purchase too much to let let it go. I'm glad I did as my experience with Revolve has been extremely satisfactory.

Their website is very easy to navigate, and offers a good selection of contemporary mid-range brand and designer clothing and accessories. You can peruse the items easily, use the zoom to see the details, and go to the specific page to have all the details about size, colour etc. clearly written. Moreover, you can check a box to see the price in your currency, so you can have an approximate idea of how much your item is going to cost you. Bear in mind that they charge in USA Dollars, and the price change as the currency exchange does, a few dollars up or down.

The shipping information is very clear and detailed, and you can order or give your opinion on an item without the need of opening an account with them, which is extremely rare in online shopping nowadays.

The range of products is fair, especially good for jeans, but I have just checked the accessories section, especially the handbags and wallets. There is not a huge selection of products, but still you find a fair selection of items in different styles and designers at affordable prices.

You get free International shipping for items above 100 Dollars, which is a great way to promote shopping and shop. That's rare in online shopping, too. If you want an expedite international post, you will pay 8 dollars if your item is over 100 dollars and 18 if it is under As the International post and couriers are subject to examination/detention at Customs in the country of destination, I would not advise spending your money in the express shipment, as no company can foresee if your parcel is going to pass through Customs quickly or slowly. It can take a few hours or a few days. It depends on Customs. Revolve Clothing uses USA Postal service for their shipping, which is always a reliable and convenient way of getting your product; if you select an expedited shipping, they will provide you with a tracking number.

My order was posted immediately, and Revolve has been the fastest and most competent shipper to the date.

I did not use their online chat, but I contacted their Customer Service by email to discuss a few issues about my order, and the girl who replied was not only very clear, specific, and honest about all of my questions, but also very nice and fast to reply to my queries.

On the downs, I think some of the photos somewhat beautify or give the wrong impression about the texture or quality of the product. For example, the wallet I ordered looks the same in person, but the leather is not as shiny and fine as in the photo. This can be expected, but I think the lighting of the photos needs to be more realistic.

Shopping with RC is most recommended. And I will certainly use their services in the future, as many of the products they offer cannot be found in Australia. Even if they can be found, they are far more expensive. The fact that you don't pay any shipping fees for items over 100 is most convenient, as, otherwise, the item becomes too expensive and I would not buy it.

Oroton Luxury Accesories (Online Shop , Australia)

Oroton is a luxury clothing and accessories Australian brand especially known for its bags, wallets and jewellery, for both men and women.

I bought a big umbrella for half the retail price from them, which has proven to resist the nasty Perth winds and heavy rains and survive more than a year.

The online shop has a clean and easy to use website, well structured, that offers most of the stock the company has, from the newest to sales or temporarily discounts and promotions.

The browsing and ordering from Oroton is very easy. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that the shipping fees were not mentioned until the last page in the check out. To be fair, they are mentioned in the Customer Service page, but I would rather have them clearly marked beside the price of the item, so I know exactly how much I'm going to spend. This is specially important for small items, whose price, if added to the shipping fees, could not be that convenient after all.

The products are sent via the Australian Post Office, a system that I quite like, but the delivery takes, if standard, a little over a week. Which is not that good if we take into account that a parcel from the Easter to the Western Estates usually take 2 working days. I think they need to update their online shopping site, so the order goes directly to the shipping store, and the item can be immediately dispatched after receiving the order.

On the other hand, Oroton products are quite pricey and they should wave shipping fees for items over 100 dollars as a standard practice. I mean, if you pay 700 dollars for a bag, they should be willing to lose 24 dollars in shipping fees to make you happy. Don't you reckon? To be fair, they wave the shipping fees at times, during occasional promotion periods, but it is not a standard practice and it is on purchases over $200.

Having said this, watch out for the sales and discounts, as you can get classic very good quality items half price at times when the same product is fully priced at the Oroton Shops and Oroton franchises in the big stores.

My experience with Oroton online was very good, and I recommend them. Stay tuned for the sales, as their products can be extremely expensive and very good quality, and you could get them at a fraction of the price if you keep an eye on the website.

Mobicity online shop (Australia)- REBRANDED YATANGO -COLLAPSED

The website is fantastic, very easy to navigate and to order. The photos are very goof quality, as well as the specifications. Ordering is super-easy, although you have to register and get account with the shop; this is really helpful to get some doubts sorted out or receive ticket supports from the staff. Moreover you have customers' reviews on some of the phones, which is always of great help when you don't know if the phone you fancy it is good enough. They range of mobiles could be better, but they have a good deal of beauties, cheap and super-expensive to choose from. The info on shipping and Faq is very good, too. The website is so professional, easy to navigate and well made that you just want to shop and trust them from the beginning.

I found their customer service just OK. It took them a day to contact me to verify my address and credit card data. My account with them had a support ticket mentioning that they had tried to ring me twice to verify my data. However, that it is difficult to believe as I gave them a mobile number as a contact, and no missing-call message was to be found. So I had to ring at my own expense to Queensland from WA, saving them some money.

The online chat is great, and the person behind was truthful and honest in her explanations. However, she seemed to be busy as sometimes took here quite a while to reply to my questions. It could just be that the chat system is slow or that she was attending to two things at the same time. The latter was my impression..

The delivery has been quite fast, but not within the time specified for capital cities, just a day over. Not good enough if you really need the phone. However, I ordered on a Tuesday and got it on a Monday. Which is still great.

Their rating system is requested just after ordering. The website is great and everybody is in a good mood after shopping, so your rating is going to be always high. That is a well known marketing strategy. However, it is impossible to leave your rating afterwards, once you have the phone -at least that is my case- as the rating system pops up automatically after you order. How can I rate a whole service just after ordering? Shouldn't they wait until the phone reach destination and the customer has been through the whole process? Otherwise, you are going to give them full marks. Then, if problem arise, you cannot change your vote. On the other hand, their rating site only shows their best reviews, and those who gave them 1, 2 or 3 stars are not displayed just mentioned/computed. Just those with 4 and 5 stars can be read. Of course, you can leave your review in the phone's page, but unless a consumer visits that specific page and you mention all your issues with Mobicity, the review is not going to be that useful. The general reviews page is the first thing I check in an online place, and Mobicity's needs to improve it and have more transparency.

The telephone I got, despite being unlocked and new, had been been locked to Telstra at the factory, and a good part of the menus, logos, and most configurations are pre-set for Telstra and, therefore, impossible to erase. The phone's cover case bears Telstra's logo, as well as the box and start-up images. That's extremely annoying, and disloyal on the part of Mobicity, which does not clearly state that in the mobile's page. If I had known, I would have bought my phone in WA, unlocked myself in an independent shop on the same day without having to pay the courier fees or wait a natural week to get it. An unlocked telephone -as the ones you can find in shops like Dick Smith for ex.- is a phone that is not only unlocked, but has never been locked to any phone carrier. I was expecting the same from Mobicity. This is reason enough to me to think twice before buying with Mobicity again.

Mobicity has a good service, but a few dodgy practices of which they should get rid of, if they want me to buy anything from them or to recommend them. Most people seem happy, but most unhappy people don't complain.

UPDATE MARCH 2016
Mobicity rebranded to Yatango a few years ago and the browsing of the website and the operations of the company worsened. I bought my last camera through Yatango and there was a serious problem of communication between the Australian company and the warehouse in Hong Kong. Yet, they had great prices, so at the end all was worth it, even the long discussions on the phone, about the problems in the fulfillment of the product, which I received out of my "harassing" their customer service.

Since then, Yatango went downhill. The browsing in Australia was a pain (way better prices and browsing experience in Yatango NZ) with offshore chat sellers popping up every second asking if they could help you and offering discounts.

The company collapsed in November 2015 both in their mobile carrier area and in the selling area. No surprise. It is surprised that it didn't fall earlier on.

Wellington St Bus Station (Perth WA) - CLOSED

Wellington St
Perth Western Australia 6000

Wellington St Bus Station, smells and looks of a bygone era, when exhaustion fumes were fancy, and sharing a platform with the bus was acceptable. However, we are in 2012, the 21st century, such a futuristic date for such a prehistoric central bus station.

Our politicians have been thinking hard on how to "fancify" anything else in the city, while this station, that has been needing of a refurbishment and complete transformation since ever, remains untouched. Where do my taxes go? Is anybody thinking about Perth public bus users?

The station is too linear, the services provided to the customer little and not very good, and the platform system badly designed. There is a small information office that works OK, some benches for you to seat if you are lucky to get there when they are empty, and the bus platforms. Those are very useful....You have to cross the bus roads to move between platforms, which is never good if you are in a hurry to catch your bus, (OMG it is leaving in 10 microseconds!!!), and you can't because there are two big buses obtruding your way or moving your way, or the pedestrian crossing area is in the opposite direction of your bus stop.

The small range of shops (mostly fast food/coffee, newsagent, chemist, etc.) don't contribute to brighten up the station, and share their ugliness with the rest of the area.

The Station needs to be refurbished and reorganised and provide the customer with screens showing buses departing, platforms from where they are departing, and time for the next one to depart, so you don't need to expend your time at the Information office asking about this if you don't know, and you can decide whether waiting for your next bus or taking an alternative way of transport. It is not rocket science, move 500 metres and the train station is another world. There should be an enclosed waiting area so you don't have to stand the heat of summer or the heavy rain of winter in a semi-open area. The platforms should be completely remade.

The Bus system in Perth seems to be secondary in the mind of our Politicians. Wellington Bus Station is a proof of it.

Priceline Carillon (Perth WA)

61-62 Carillon Arcade
Perth Western Australia 6000

Website

Hours:
Mon-Thu 8:30 - 17:30
Fri 8:30 - 21:00
Sat 8:30 - 17:00
Sun 11:00 - 17:00

Priceline Carillon is my fav Priceline ever and one of my landmarks in the city. I mean, I am woman, so I need tons of products for my face, my body, my hair, my nails, my odour, my cleaning, my everything, from top to toes and all the bits in between.

They have almost everything you need at very good prices, especially with their constant discounts. The range of products is amazing, and quite varied, mid brands being the staple, although some good ones are also available. You'll find there, beyond the usual stuff, chocolates, diet food, v-i-b-r-a-t-o-r-s, condoms, straighteners and curlers, and even a small range of good brands fragrances at discounted prices. In fact, I bought there a small bottle of Nina by Nina Ricci last year for 29 dollars (which is the cheapest price I've seen it anywhere) during one of their offers, and I have been asked about my perfume since then. They don't have pharmacy here, but I don't really mind. I actually prefer it like that. Still, you have an aisle with the usual painkillers, flu concoctions, and natural "stuffies".

The service is average at the cash out. However, I love the fact that, if there is a long cue at one cash out, the other girls are immediately called to open another one and you don't waste your time waiting. You will be decently treated and guided by the people working in the aisles if you ask for help, or even if they see that you need a basket or see the look of I-am-lost-here flashing green on your face.

The main down of this Priceline is that they tend to reorganise their shelves quite often, so you go to your usual aisle and you find that what you are looking for is no longer there. I understand the need to keep the shop clean and well organised, but please guys, keep still! They have also have a tendency to discontinue those brands or products that are my fav in the world, which is always a horror moment for me.

Their catalogue is a must in your purse at lunch time, as they have good discounts of make-up, fragrances, and anything you might need to clean or beautify your temple of a body.

The shop is in the core of the city, accessible from three different places. No helicopter needed to drop by.

"Born to Die" by Lana del Rey (2012)

Lana del Rey's voice in this album has depth, colour, texture, darkness, lyricism, playfulness and naughtiness. The sound of the album is dark and sultry at the same time and will remind Tori Amos' fans of Amos' unmistakable wonderful sound and voice. Lolita!

The album has a mix of musical influences, from soft rap to old Spanish/Hispanic tunes, from independent songstresses of the 90s to tunes of the 1970s, all well blended together. It is very retro-modern, so to speak.

It is an album in which the lyrics of the songs are the main focus, so you cannot consume it in a hurry, despite the music being quite upbeat and enjoyable per se. The main virtue of the lyrics is how cinematic they are, little mini-stories in themselves with great characters, which you can visualise in your head as if they were a mini-movie. My fav songs are Video games, Summertime sadness, Carmen and Lolita, but I love most of them.

I have enjoyed the album a lot. However, in a way, there is a disconnection between the emotions of the songstress and the characters she tries to bring to life, if you know what I mean.

"21" by Adele (2011)

21 is not only a step up with regards to Adele's 19, but one of the best albums that has been launched in the last two years. Even more extraordinary is the fact that you will love the album even if you are not into this sort of music, into love songs, or even into Adele. That is a lot to say about an artist and an album.

It is not only the soul Adele has put in the lyrics, but the fact that the album is not overproduced musically, but an harmonious mix of Adele's powerful voice and melodies and instruments that are there enhance it not to distract the listener with unnecessary innuendos.

This is one of those rare CDs in which all the songs are excellent, not just one or two. A CD that you could listen to for the whole day. A CD that makes you connect with your inner feelings of love and lack of love in a raw honest way.

Truly, all the Grammies Adele got in 2012 for "21" are well deserved. Unlike many other over-produced over-marketed artists for the masses, Adele's 21 is a terrific album that will survive the pass of time, and a proof of her artistic talent.
